Description
This is an excellent Wakizashi of the early Edo Period. It bears the signature of Echigo No Kami Kanesada. Kanesada (I), a well known master was of the famous Kaneyasu Mon (school) and a student of Iga No Kami Kanemishi.
In his early life, Kanesada had no natural children. He had an apprentice (Sakakura) and he made arrangements to adopt him. When his adopted son became proficient in sword making, he was allowed to use the name “Echigo No Kami Kanesada II”.
